Parents as Teachers / Parent Education PDF Print E-mail

In support of parents in their roles as parents and their children's first teacher, Early Childhood Alliance provides information, support and encouragement through the Parents as Teachers program (PAT).

Parents who participate in PAT gain confidence in their parenting, and generally read more to their children, and are more active in their children's school than other parents. PAT children have often shown significant advancement in language, problem solving, and social development, PAT services include:

  • Interactive, personalized visits by a certified parent educator, to share age-appropriate, child development information.

  • Group meetings with other parents to share parenting experiences, information, and gain insights.

  • Periodic screening for early identification of developmental delays and a review of a child's developmental progress.

  • A network of resources which can help identify and connect with needed resources.

This free program is designed for parents of children, prenatal thru kindergarten, and offered throughout northeast Indiana. Call Early Childhood Alliance for more information.
