Manager of Family Advocacy – Full-Time (40 Hours)


Position Summary

The Manager of Family Advocacy is responsible for providing support and services for families that foster strength, healthy living and overall well-being for the family unit. The Manager of Family Advocacy works with both the family and the teacher in a childcare setting to support long lasting outcomes and encourages all family members to become advocates for their children.

Employee has frequent contact with ECA staff and families and actively participates in community meetings and related work to establish and foster strong partnerships. Employee must have excellent communication skills and respect the diversity and cultures of individual families, staff and community partners. Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and occasional weekends. Work may require light to moderate lifting.

Essential Functions

 Builds trusting and collaborative partnerships with families, providing consistent support and contact, and recognizing family’s readiness and willingness to participate in a collaborative relationship. Serves as a liaison between families, teachers and other community resources to support long lasting outcomes.
 Builds trusting and collaborative partnerships with teachers and Center management staff, engaging the staff to provide extra support to children and families as needed. Communicates actively to ensure all staff is informed of pertinent information as it pertains to families, the center and classroom activities.
 With the assistance of the Center Site Managers and Chief Center Administrator, the Manager of Family Advocacy ensures the consistent enrollment of ECA’s two Learning Centers, maintaining a minimum 80% capacity, or as established on annual budget.
 Manages and updates the enrollment waiting list for the center. Provides weekly Enrollment Opening reports to Center Site Manager.
 Arranges tours for potential new families, schedules Meet & Greet with classroom teachers and the Center Site Manager and ensures enrollment paperwork is complete.
 Prepares enrollment contracts with families for summer school-age program, holidays/ break care and before & after care.

 Plans effective transitions of children based on developmental growth, between classrooms in order to maintain enrollment for each classroom.
 Assesses families’ needs and analyze feedback to monitor progress.
 Utilizes the Family Engagement Toolkit to analyze the Family Engagement Programming, and make ongoing improvements based on the assessment.
 Promotes and markets ECA’s Learning Centers and provides visibility within the community with the assistance of the Chief Center Administrator and Director of Communications.
 Acts as back-up to the Center Site Manager as needed.
 Establishes partnerships within the community, keeping abreast of current and new partnerships and community resources.
 Provides parent support and education individually and through group sessions.
Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Consumer and Family Sciences, Adult Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field.
• Minimum two years experience working with families and/or in an early childhood setting, or an agency providing community support services.
• Experience in computer utilization.
• Analytical and organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
• Demonstrates cultural competence and sensitivity and during interactions with families, staff, and community partners.
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
